Description: An incomplete copper alloy Roman bow brooch, possibly of the dolphin type or a Colchester deriviative. The lower brooch, catchplate and pin are missing. The brooch measures 32.25mm in length, 32.15mm wide and weighs 8.34 grams. The wings are circular in cross section (10.70mm in diameter) the top of the wings are flat and contain some evidence of iron corrosion. The bow is D shape and tapers from 14.9mm to 10.10mm wide at the break. The upper bow is decorated with a raised chevron, the remainder of the bow until the break appears to be undecorated.
