Description: A medieval (1350-1450) copper alloy composite buckle, incomplete in so far as it is missing the ends of its arms as well as its pin and two sheet plates. The object comprises an oval lipped frame (the outside edge forming a triangular point at the centre, with a groove for the pin rest) and an integral forked spacer plate. The internal measurements of the frame are 12.3x21.3mm. The forked spacer extends max.19mm behind the frame and cartrying traces of solder to both faces. Both arms of the spacer are L-shaped, narrowing to their old breaks. The area of bar for the missing pin is 2.3mm wide. The buckle frame measures 37.4mm in length and 26.5mm in max.width (at the frame). It weighs 5.10g.
