STRAP FITTING 744246

Description: An incomplete copper alloy post-medieval (AD c.1600-1700) strap fitting, missing the end of one integral lug. It is in the shape of a cordiform frame around a broadly crescent-shaped openwork design. The frame is D-shaped in section. There is a circular knop at each of the corners at the wide end of the heart. Between the knops, there are two globular shapes which join them together. On the reverse there are two integral lugs. Overall the strap fitting measures 23.3mm in length, 27.95mm wide, 10.5mm maximum thickness and weighs 7.23 grams.
