BROOCH 726402

Description: An incomplete tinned copper alloy Roman T-shape brooch dating to the period c. AD 50 - 150. The lower bow, pin, foot and catchplate are missing. The brooch measures 29.15mm in length, 26.35mm wide 10.0mm thick and weighs 8.15 grams. The brooch exhibits cylindrical wings, the wings house the iron axis bar for the hinged spring meachanism, within the recess for the pin is iron corrosion. The bow arches back from the head and is decorated by a central longitudinal ridge. The bow tapers and becomes cylindrical in cross section towards the point where it terminates in an old break. Cf.
