Description: A copper alloy spur rowel of medieval to post-medieval date (1300-1700). The rowel is in the form of a 5 pointed star with a central perforation 4.9mm in diameter. The points are pointed-oval in cross-section, flattened slightly on each face and each decorated along this flattened area with punched crescents. To either side, close to the base of each point, is a pair of stacked crescents. The metal has lost its original patina and is a brown/ purple colour. The spur measures 50.2x47.4mm, is 3.2mm thick and weighs 14.49g.
