UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT 71397

Description: Incomplete copper alloy unidentified object, possibly Roman in date. It consists of a bent circular-sectioned 50mm long piece of twisted copper alloy with flattened ends similar to a paddle in shape. On one end, one face of the flattened end has a groove flanking each long side, creating a rib at the edge. It is unclear whether this is intentional decoration, has some purpose, or means nothing in particular. The section has a 3.5mm diameter. The paddle ends are c.10mm long and 5mm wide. Weighs 3.37g.
