MOUNT 71343

Description: Post medieval copper alloy mount consisting of a faceted cone with a knop on top, 14mm high with a diameter of 16mm. It is slightly hollowed underneath. Around the edge extend four arms at equal intervals, at 90 degrees to the cone. These have trefoil shaped terminals, pierced at the centre and two horizontal grooves below each. The cone has 8 sides. Probably from horse harness, but a strap fitting of some kind. The mount is curving in profile. Measures 38.5x36x2mm.
