Description: A probable incomplete copper alloy La Tene I Iron Age bow brooch dating to the period c. 400-200BC. The brooch consists of the main section of the bow only and terminates in an old break at either end. From the tip of the bow which measures 3.08mm wide, the bow curves back and widens to a maximum width of 7.49mm before tapering towards the foot which curves at a ninety degree angle and terminates in an old break. The bow is decorated along it's length by a longitudinal groove running down the centre of the bow with a central longitudinal ridge incised with chevrons along it's length. The brooch measures 18.35mm in length, 7.49mm maximum width, 3.08mm minimum width, 2.17mm maximum thickness, 1.83mm minimum thickness and weighs 2.09g. The brooch is similar in design to Hattatt, R, 2007, pp. 288, fig. 147, no. 4. Similar examples on the database include HAMP-BFAAF7.
