STRAP FITTING 601264

Description: An incomplete copper alloy Post Medieval (AD 1500-1700) possible sword belt fitting, missing the tip of the hook. Overall, it measures 32.70mm long, 15.25mm wide and 7.90mm thick (3.80mm not including the hook). It weighs 4.65g. The object is broadly triangular in plan terminating in a hook which curls backwards. The other two corners terminate in globular knops. There is are two perforations towards the centre of the wide end, one of which has iron corrosion deposits from an iron rivet. On either side of these perforations are pairs of circular indentations. The narrow end has raised globular decoration. The reverse is flat.
