FINGER RING 596684

Description: A fragment of a copper-alloy medieval stirrup-shaped finger ring missing its setting dating to the period c. AD 1150 - 1500. The ring is rectangular in plan and D-shaped in profile. The bezel has a rectangular recess measuring 5.51mm in length and 6.98mm in width. The finger ring narrows from the shoulders towards the bottom of the band (6.54mm maximum width, 4.53mm minimum width) and also narrows in thichness from the bezel to the bottom of the band (maximum thickness 6.18mm, minimum thickness 1.63mm). The band terminates in two old breaks. The diameter of the surviving part of the band is 22.45mm (internal diameter 19.02mm). It weighs 5.04g. See also CAM-23C041 and IOW-D92652 for similar examples.
