Description: A copper alloy Post-Medieval (1650-1800) one-piece discoidal button with integral drilled shank and engraved and punched decoration.
The button is discoidal in plan and has a convex front and concave reverse. The front is decorated with an engraved six-pointed star around three ring-and-dot punches, all within a ring of punched circles. The surface is very worn and a dark red/brown in colour with patches of a light green corrosion product.
The perforation on the shank to the reverse is 1.78mm in diameter. The button measures 25.61mm in diameter, stands 7.51mm in height and weighs 5.76g.
