Post-medieval nickel-plated pewter pendant cross, complete, but now in two parts. A cross fleuretty with a large hanging loop at the top.
Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis identified the body metal at the break as pewter (an alloy of lead and tin), with no detectable precious metal. Copper and nickel are the main components detected in the surface plating.
The object therefore does not qualify as Treasure as defined under the terms of the Treasure Act 1996.
Weight of the two pieces: 8.56 grams.
