Description: Complete copper-alloy looped socketed axe. Rectangular-sectioned mouth. Sides tapering out slightly to straight blade. Prominent single collar at mouth. Moulded horizontal ridge below collar on front and reverse sides. The front also has a moulded sub-oval feature in the centre between the horizontal moulding and the collar. Casting sprues on seams. Loop slightly off-centre. Thin-walled - there is a small hole close to the side seam. L: 127.5 W. mouth: 29.5 B. mouth:40 Socket dims.: 23 x 32 W. loop: 8.5. Part of a hoard of 68 Armorican socketed axeheads.
