Description: A incomplete copper alloy knife handle. A copper alloy bar with an elaborate terminal. The bar is rectangular in cross section with several circular attachment holes set at regular intervals. The terminal is an expanded rectangular block decorated with a quatrefoil aperture with framing incised lies around it. At the end of the block is a smal conical projection, set slighlty off-centre. Date: Late Medieval - 15th to 16th century Dimensions: 66.36 mm x 16.61 mm x 6.24 mm Weight: 13.52 g A similar, but less complete object is recorded as BH-7FB204. Kurt Adams has identified a similar object (GLO-936555) as part of a knife handle conprising a stop and a long tang which would have been encased in handle made of an organic material such as wood, bone or antler.
