RETOUCHED FLAKE 511990
Description: A sub-rectangular flint tertiary flake of probable late Mesolithic to Neolithic date, long and narrow. There is a bulb of percussion beyond a transverse platform, with rippling extending up the face. The dorsal face features some three main blade like removals, all in the same plane and same direction as the main, ventral strike. One is central, with those to the sides bevelled. Losses at the distal end may be old breaks or flaws. The losses to the sides, though numerous, are inconsistent and do not seem to constitute definite retouch. The flint is a variable light-grey colour with some small patches of slight iron staining on the ventral face especially. The flake is notably twisted in profile.
