Description: An Early Post-Medieval (1500-1700) openwork cast copper alloy hooked tag of Read's Class E Type 3 (circular/sub-circular), measuring 31.45x16.48x7.50mm and weighing 3.03g.
The sub-circular openwork plate consists of a central crosshatched object, probably a pinecone or pineapple, with a V-shaped moulded area beneath. On each side is a moulded, engrailed or foliate edge with three and four small circular perforations to either side. At the top of the plate is an integral rectangular suspension loop 12.45mm wide (internal dimensions 8.94x3.26mm), while a D-sectioned hook (3.12x1.83mm) with faceted edges extends below, curving behind itself.
