Description: A complete 17th-century cast copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle formed of two trapezoidal loops. Each loop has a triangular outer edge with central transverse pin groove, and rounded knops at their corners. The frame is flat both surfaces with steep internal and external bevelling between the faces. The sides incurve slightly. There is a lobed knop at each end of the pin bar . This latter is trapezoidal in cross-section. The tapering pin has a length of 17.15mm and a width, at the loop, of 3.25mm. The frame has traces of a mid-green metal showing through its dark-brown shiny coating, the pin has a brown patina with similar traces of a black coating. A similar buckle can be found illustrated in Whitehead (1996, 83; ref. 522).
