FINGER RING 392997
Description: A fragment of Roman (AD 200-300) copper alloy finger-ring, consisting of a third of the bezel and shoulder. It measures 17.58x(max)15.81mm and weighs 3.40g.
The bezel is pointed-oval in shape with an oval area for a (missing) intaglio c.14mm wide and c.22mm long. It is 3mm deep. The bezel is set on a wider platform which extends into the shoulder (and presumably the rest of the hoop), 12.18mm wide and 1.21mm thick and narrowing to 6.64mm wide at the (old) break. The shoulder is triangular in shape with a central raised and rounded triangular area which the pointed oval bezel projects into.
Cf. WILT-E697E7 for a similarly-shaped and more complete finger-ring.
