Description: Incomplete Early Post-Medieval copper alloy (with high tin-content) double-looped shoe or knee buckle with separate iron spindle (now missing and visible through the corrosion it has left behind), missing its pin. It measures 30.71x20.60mm (internal 20.33x(max)14.74mm). It weighs 7.8g. The buckle is 'trapezium shaped' has a pair of moulded transverse ribs (one very thick, one very thin) either side of the pin rest, on both loops. A similar rib arrangement can be seen either side of the axis-spindle. Decoration is to the front and sides of the frame only. 17th century.
