Description: Roman copper alloy spoon c.2nd century AD. Traces of tinning are present on the front and the back of the bowl. The spoon measures 88mm in length and is 31mm at its widest part. The spoon weighs 12.0g. The pear-shaped bowl is broken (old) diagonally across its widest part. Above the break the bowl is split towards where the bowl is bent upwards. The handle is offset from the bowl by a right angled junction from which the handle extends 49mm before being bent curving to the right hand side, when looking at the front of the spoon. cf. Allason-Jones and Miket, 1984, no. 336 and Crummy, 1983, no. 2014.
