STUD 199920

STUD 199920
Description: A bent and corroded copper-alloy stud/mount of circular form. The head is domed and has been squashed slightly a number of points around its circumference. The stem emerges from the centre of the reverse surface. It is square in cross-section and bends to one side slightly. The upper surface in particular has suffered from corrosion and pitting and is now a mid-dark green colour. This stud is plausibly Roman in date, although a later (post-medieval) date cannot be ruled out.
