STRAP FITTING 199917
Description: A small decorative post-medieval cast copper-alloy mount with a pair of spikes on the reverse, bent in the same direction. The mount has a broadly triangular body, truncated by a trefoil terminal uppermost and a lozengiform terminal at its base. The base of the 'triangle' is stepped as with an example illustrated in Read (2001, 35; ref. 292). The upper surface of the mount is shallowly bevelled with a rough central ridge. On the flat lower surface one of the attachment spikes has been broken. The object has corroded, but much of its white metal coating still shows through.
