AXEHEAD 190191
Description: A cast copper-alloy fragment from the mouth of a socketed Late Bronze Age axehead. Based on the fragmentary survival the mouth would appear to be rectangular with rounded corners. The outer surface features a prominent moulding with a further narrow moulding below a waist. The outer surface is faceted in line with the curvature of the socket mouth, with a possible lonigtudinal ridge/seam to one side. The metal has a dark orange-brown colour with areas of light yellow-green bronze disease.
