HARNESS PENDANT 136551
Description: Medieval copper alloy harness pendant. It would have originally been completely gilded.
In shape it is an elongated drop, the wider end being at the top just below the loop, which is turned through 90°. The point extends into a roundish knop, now slightly damaged.
The pendant is sheet copper alloy and concave at the reverse, so the front is outstanding.
Measures 34.7x9.2x0.5mm and weighs 1.36g.
Probably 13th century in date. Nick Griffiths comments that the reddish colour of the metal is typical of objects that have been gilded.
