Description: Fragment of Roman bow brooch (possibly a T-shape or Trumpet type), consisting of lower bow, foot and damaged catchplate.
It is 24.8mm in length and c.5mm wide at the (oldish) break. Its maximum width is at the foot, which is 5.8mm wide.
The lower bow is roughly D-shaped in section though slightly faceted, with two 'sides' and the front sloping away from a central line, which is decorated with tiny horizontal incisions. Just before the break is a horizontal groove running across both these two faces.
The foot is quite high (4.9mm) and decorated to the front with a horizontal groove.
To the back of the lower bow is the damaged catchplate, which apparantly extends from just below the break. The curl is missing.
Weighs 3.36g. Late 1st/ 2nd century.
