BUCKLE 130004
Description: Medieval copper alloy oval lipped buckle frame with plate and pin. Its entire length (from lip of buckle to end of plate) is 33mm. The max width of the frame is 19.5mm (internal 16.4mm). The pin is flat in section where it curls around the frame with a flange running around all sides except the underside. After this it becomes triangular in section to the point. The frame has a notch for the pin.
The plate is 13.5mm wide and 20.3mm long. It has three rivet holes, all at the open end - one at the centre and one in each corner. The plate is rather worn but apparantly without decoration. It weighs 3.38g.
Cf Egan 1991 no.309. This is dated to c.1350-c.1400.
