TOY 1059197

Description: A copper alloy toy cannon. The toy cannon is comprised of a circular barrel which tapers slightly in diameter towards the muzzle. At the butt is a rounded, necked knob (cascabel button). Beyond this are two convex collars (the first deeper than the second) with a narrowed section between in which is the circular touch hole (for igniting the explosive charge to fire the piece). Beyond the second collar the barrel tapers to the flared muzzel. Part way along is a separate flat copper alloy band with remnants of two circular sectioned arms (trunnions which allowed the canon to be mounted on a wooden support or carriage). One arm is a stub and the other is about 8.5 mm to the break. There is a flat integral collar just before the muzzel.
