Description: An incomplete and bent Roman trumpet brooch, 31.2mm in length. The head is semi-circular with concave underside and the stump of a projecting loop on the front edge. A rusted iron spindle remains within the cylindrical hinge housing underneath the head, however the iron pin has been lost. The bow is narrow, with plano convex cross section and decorated with a moulded acanthus flanked by transverse ridges. The lower portion of the bow and the catchplate have been lost. Circa late 1st to mid 2nd century AD.
