BROOCH 101212

Description: The broken foot from a Roman rosette brooch of 1st-century date (see WILT-8C4E45 on this database for the remainder). It is hexagonal in plan with two long sides, bent over at one end. Wide projection on reverse, possibly broken off and bent over. Lateral band of decoration on the upper surface in form of wide recessed groove with two parallel lateral raised bands of opposing short transverse ridges. It is 21.7mm long, 12.22mm wide, 1.05mm thick and weighs 1.51g.
