PIN 101207
Description: A Roman copper-alloy pin. The head is generally spherical with a diameter of 9.42mm, although it is flattened on the underside from where shaft projects. The shaft is circular in section, with a diameter of 2-3.7mm and tapers to a point, which was probably broken off in antiquity. Roman pins of this form are believed to have been used to attach upholstery to furniture and similar examples are known from Colchester (Crummy 1981, 115, fig 116).
