BROOCH 1004617
Description: A Roman copper alloy colchester brooch, dating to c. AD 25-60. The bow of the brooch survives, its pin and catchplate are lost. The head of the brooch expands transversely into flat wings, with a central hook expanding from the centre which curves upwards. A second hook expands from above this and would have originally curved forward over the head, but this is truncated by an old break. The pin and axis bar are lost. The bow is undecorated and tapers into the foot, an incomplete catchplate projects from the reverse - this was originally perforated.
