Description: An incomplete copper alloy initial T-shaped bow brooch. The pin, foot and catchplate are missing. The wings are cylindrical and housed the missing axis bar for a hinged pin mechanism. There is a notch between the wings at the rear where the missing pin would have articulated. The outer ends of the wings are decorated with an vertical incised line on each. Where the wings join the head of the bow, each is decorated with a moulded diagonal ridge (angled inwards). The bow is D-shaped in cross section and tapers to a break just above the missing foot. The bow is undecorated. At the rear of the lower part of the bow is the stub of the catchplate. Date: Roman - c. AD 50 -150 Dimensions: 32.72 mm x 20.40 mm x 9.23 mm Weight: 3.36 g
