Description:

Farmhouse extended between 1910 and 1920 by the Morant family of Brockenhurst House. Until then it was available for lodging, and 'Hudson the great Naturalist lodged here while he wrote his book Hampshire Days, 1903'. Hutchinson, p 92 ‘There is good accommodation at Lyndhurst, a good service of horses and carriages to be hired, and though there are many other pleasant places for a sojourn, such as Roydon House in the south, and the Stoney Cross Inn in the north, Lyndhurst, as said, is the chief and most central.’
