Occupied in 1859 by William Duckworth and Mrs Louisa Malcolm. The latter stays until 1885. From 1895 to 1901 it was occupied by Dowager Lady Selena Heathcote, who passed it on to Colonel Charles George Heathcote, who occupied it from 1903 to 1923. It was for sale in 1919 as ‘a large country residence in 100 acres of parkland with six cottages and a capital homestead’.In 1879, a notice in The Times, selling a property known as The Firs, says ‘The extreme beauty and retirement of the spot, the immediate propinquity of the Forest and of Beechwood, the seat of Mrs Malcolm, are distinguishing and irresistable attractions’.
