Moonhills Gate

Moonhills Gate
159M88/1060
Description:

House built for Mr Nash Brown. Widnell, p. 332: ‘Though in later years Mr Nash Brown was apt to prove fussy and pedantic yet he was at heart a fine and plucky character, and one who by sheer force of personality would turn trespassers from using the ride from Moonhills to the Lonesome Pine, today Moonhills Gate House, which he had built. Those trespassing would be surprised to find themselves confronted by a spare dapper man carrying ever in his buttonhole the flower of the season. This was the crowning feature o fhis immaculate turnout, which had earned him a sobriquet, apt bur of kindly intent, “the Marquis of Denny Lodge”.’
