Description: 'Housewife' sewing kit, complete, containing assorted threads, needles and spare buttons . Part of WW2 battledress and kit belonging to Broomfield, 7389 A Coy. Mr Broomfield was a burley resident, drafted in 1941 to Wellworthy's Ampress Works at Lymington as a machine operator and chargehand. Then transferred to the company's Abingdon works to work as a machine operater manufacturing piston rings. He was also a member of the Homeguard in which he served until 1944. He returned to Burley at the end of the war.
