Description: LONDON DAY BY DAY "The New Forest" Lord Montagu (aged 22) in Lord’s debate on New Forest Bill. His grandfather's report to Parliament in 1876 led to Act on which New Forest is based. He and Earl of Radnor both commoners but only Lord Montagu was against the new Act. Debate references to red deer, murderers, feudal customs, pre-Norman England and the royal deer.
