Description: Folios 319-322. To: Home Secretary. From: F Audsley, Member of the Idle Local Board, Idle, [Yorkshire]. A letter regarding the appeal of Audsley and other members of the Idle Local Board (James Padgett, George Alred, and Benjamin Bland) against surcharges made against them by the Auditor of the Board's accounts for disallowed payments connected with the Idle Local Board's attempts to secure a water supply from within the Idle District (from stone mines) and prevent the course of a Bradford Water Company to supply Idle. This appeal was then petitioned against by Sutcliffe, an Idle resident who, along with some other freeholders prayed that the Home Secretary would not grant the Idle Board's petition, as the payments had been made in bad faith by the Idle Local Board, as the water supply they were trying to obtain was known to be contaminated. Audsley replies to the allegations made in Sutcliffe's counter-petition and requests that the Home Secretary will remit the surcharges.
