Description: Letter from John G[oldsworthy] Shorter, town clerk, Hastings to [Ashurst Turner Gilbert], Bishop of Chichester explaining that he has been 'completely misled by the return of fees furnished to me in relation to minister's fees at the burial ground at St Leonards chapel. They were furnished to me by the clerk under the directions of Mr Leslie's agent, an old man who has mistaken the matter, for I will not say he intended to mislead me, but they appear desirous of making the fees appear as large as possible'
