Letter from John H. Oglander, 20 Wilton Crescent, London, S.W., to his grandson, Master Denys Kennard

Description: C/o Dr. Manders Smythe, Linford Sanatorium, Near Ringwood, Hants "A few words to wish you a happy birthday and many happy returns of it. I write a small letter this time but will soon write a big one again. We were so glad to see you well and jolly. Granny wrote to your Mummy to tell her all about you and that you tried to be a good boy. Peter is gone to his other Grandfather at Tangley and Nanny writes that he is not so very shy. Heaps of love and kisses from Granny. We hope you like you piano and can play tunes on it. Goodbye dearest boy, always your loving Grand Dad" Note: John and Florence Oglander left Nunwell by car on 14 December and went via Southampton to the Linford Sanatorium to visit Denys. They did not get there till 4.15 p.m. and had to drive through the Forest to the Crown Hotel at Lyndhurst, where they stayed the night and went to Captain Watson at Minster, near Midhurst and then on to London the following day, 16th December.
