Further deeds of property I
Description: Edward Burt, now of Wick in Woodmancote, and John Gratwicke, mortgaged the property, 21 Oct. 1709, for £100 and £200 respectively, to James Bartlett of New Shoreham, shipwright (no. WISTON/565), following which a fine was levied (no. WISTON/566), and there is a deed to declare its uses, 4 Nov. 1709 (no. WISTON/567). Edward Burt, by his will, 4 Jan. 1720/1, devised the property to his son Edward (no. WISTON/568), and it is presumably Edward junior, who, with his wife Christian, conveys it, 19, 20 March 1732/3, to the Rev. James Ingram of Cuckfield, in consideration of £736. 16s. (nos. WISTON/569, 570), together with a bond (no. WISTON/571), final concord, and counterpart (nos. WISTON/572, 573) and assignment of judgement (no. WISTON/574; see no. WISTON/562). There is a bill of costs, receipted 22 Oct. 1734, of James Ingram in account with Mr. Warden [? his solicitor] (no. WISTON/575). The said James Ingram, as rector of Sedlescombe, leased the property, 14 April 1749, to John and Isaac Muzzall, both of Henfield, yeomen, for 14 years, at the yearly rent of £28 (no. WISTON/576); there is a copy of the will, 17 July 1756, and probate, 27 Nov. 1756, of James Ingram (no. WISTON/577).
