Draft letter from Sir John Oglander to Arthur Bromfield, his brother-in-law, written on back of letter of 28 August from Mary Bromfield to her brother, Sir John

Description: "Sir. I desire that reason not passion should over govern all my actions, so would I not be accounted so sottish as not to be sensible of wrong doings. Whether reason or cholar hath prevailed I desire reasonable men may hear our differences and to that end understanding that you have made choise of Mr. Earlsfield I have made choise of my [step] brother Mr. Lewknor (not declining Mr. Sheriff as being never named by me) but I leave you to your choise knowing Sir Daniel [Norton] to be noble and just. I desire that 29th September may be the day, Portsmouth the place, if wind and weather permit, the hour two" (18/15)
