Lease and Release
Description: Whereby, in consideration of £430, Edward King (of Coventry, gent.; brother of Thomas [III] King of Coventry, gent., deceased; T. [III] was eldest son of Thomas [II] King, brewer, by his wife Penelope, née Blake; Thomas [II] was eldest son of Thomas [I] King, brewer, by his wife Cave [I], née Chamberlain) and Cave [II] King (of Coventry, Edward's spinster-sister) sell Coventry Harbridge (of Coventry, vintner), with John Pickering (of Coventry, tammy-merchant) as his trustee, the "Rose and Crown" on the southern side of High St. (occupied by C. Harbridge) which had been sundrily bought by Thomas [I], Cave [I] and PenelopeKing (part of PA/101/7/281's portion being devised by P. King to Cave [II] King for life with remainder to Edward, for which he has made satisfaction to his sister): the Kings covenant to produce (a) a 10th. Apr., 1717 marriage-settlement (made between T. [II] King (gent.), Penelope Blake (spinster) and John Blake (merchant) et al); (b) a Michaelmas Term, 20 George II final concord made by E. King with Thomas Burgh, M.D.; (c) a 29th. Dec., 1746 deed declaring (b)'s use to E. King; (d) the 19th. -20th. Jan. [, 1748/9] conveyance of the premises to Samuel Philips, esq. and T. Burgh to make them tenants to the freehold; and (e) a Hilary Term, 1748/9 common recovery wherein Thomas Perkins (gent.) was demandant and S. Philips and T. Burgh vouchees.
