He acknowledges receipt of their letter of 19 January 1859 and informing them that none of the parish officers have a copy of the Enclosure Act for the allotments on Murphey Moor. The 'gentleman' who has the original is not willing to give it up. Annotations,'WGL' [William Golden Lumley], 8 February 1859, requests that a visit is paid to the Parliament Office to examine the act and ascertain if there is any clause which refers to this property. A further note, 22 March 1859, the act has been examined as requested, but nothing was found relating to any property under the name of Murphey Moor.
