Description: Folios 688-689. To: The Local Government Act Office. From: W Henry Grove, Lymington [Hampshire]. Subject Matter: Letter stating that the letter of the 16 January 1867 does not contain the answer with respect to sanctioning the proceedings of the mock meeting referred to in Grove's declaration. Grove therefore asks for a copy of the Summoning Officer's certificate of the election of the Local Board and for all correspondence between him and the Local Government Act office on the sanitary state of this town. He submits that if this is not forthcoming, the borough members will be called upon to move for it in the House of Commons. Although he is aware that the validity of the election must be decided by the Court of the Queens Bench, he still considers that he and the ratepayers have an indefeasible right to know if the proceedings of the mock meeting have been sanctioned with reference to his declaration. He also encloses a resolution passed at the meeting referred to, and asks for this to be placed before the Home Secretary.
