Description: Folio 49. To: Richard Vyse, Luton [Bedfordshire]. From: The General Board of Health. Subject Matter: Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter of the 5 August 1850 enclosing a copy of the returns of the election of members to the Luton Local Board of Health and requesting information as to the power to compel the Local Board to pay the expenses incurred in the election. It is advised that the Local Board are bound to pay the expenses of the election, and as to the scale of officers allowances, they have no scale of remuneration of officers engaged in elections of Local Boards. Rugby, Croydon and Tottenham are towns where Local Boards have been appointed and from which the information required can be obtained.
