Description: Folio 608. To: The General Board of Health. From: Charles Hyde, 33 Ely Place, Holborn, London. Subject Matter: Letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 1 September 1849, enclosing a copy of the report from Professor Graham, dated 30 August 1849, relative to the arrangements for ventilation of the new Fever Hospital. Hyde remarks that Graham's report is 'very satisfactory', and confirms that the 'registering apparatus' will be added to the 'fan-wheel machinery' as he suggests. He explains that the Medical Officers have reported that it would be improper to receive patients into the old building after the present week, and that it must be closed. Notices are said to have therefore been issued to the public and to the Boards of Guardians of Unions and Parishes, advising that the new Hospital will be opened for the reception of patients on and after next Monday.
