Description: Folios 471-479. To: The Local Government Act Office. From: J M Barret, Solicitor to the Idle Local Board, Leeds, [Yorkshire]. A letter and a petition. Barret writes to again appeal against surcharges made against members of the Idle Local Board for payments totalling £435 connected with promoting a petition to the 1868 session of the Commons against certain clauses in the Bradford Improvement and Waterworks Bill, the petition which Barret encloses is a copy of the one made by the Idle Board. Barret then outlines we he think it was appropriate and reasonable for the Idle to expend money on the petition and why he thinks the petition should be granted, urging the Office to again, after previously confirming them after a public inquiry, consider remitting the surcharges against the Idle Board members, and also to consider the prosecution of the Idle Board's petition.
