Description: Folios 323-325. To: The Local Government Act Office. From: F Audsley, Member of the Idle Local Board, Idle, [Yorkshire]. A letter stating that it has come to Audsley attention that Mr Sutcliffe and others are getting up another petition against the appeal of the Local Board to the Home Secretary. Audsley says that the opposition are gaining many signatures by misrepresentation, playing on ratepayers desire to save money, and also that many of the principle members of the opposition are employers of many men 'and we know when a master asks his work men to do a thing they generally oblige him, even at times against their minds'. Audsley asks that the Idle Local Board will be allowed time to get another petition in favour of their appeal before the matter is decided.
