Description: Folios 261-262. To: Home Secretary. From: Robert Sutcliffe, Idle, [Yorkshire]. A letter. Sutcliffe says that the Idle Local Board have announced that they are to obtain a loan for works for the acquisition of a water supply for Idle under the Home Secretary's authority. Sutcliffe had been assured previously by the Home Secretary that he had no power to sanction such a loan and had informed the Idle Board of this fact. Sutcliffe contends that if the Idle Board has obtained sanction for a loan it must have been by misrepresentation. Sutcliffe requests that the Home Secretary will furnish him with all the details of the matter, commenting that the Bradford Water Company are in a position to supply Idle with water in the next few weeks.
